UV Glow in the Dark Noodles Recipe
Glowing noodles that are safe to eat.. Is it possible? Yes! In this DIY video I will show you how to make noodles glow in the dark in blacklight. What you need? A vitamin!
While researching UV reactive ingredients for possible glow food recipes, I came across a vitamin called B2 (also known as Riboflavin). Vitamin B2 glows brilliantly yellow in blacklight (ultraviolet light), when mixed with some water. Milk, eggs, cheese, almonds and many vegetables contain vitamin B2. For this recipe though, I bought Vitamin B2 as a separate vitamin (you can find it online or at a good health store).
Vitamin B2 is already yellow in normal light. In blacklight though, the neon colour will be released when B2 is mixed with water. Said water (after straining it) can be used to colour the noodles.
For the glow noodles recipe you preferably want to use white noodles, since they will complement the colour of the vitamin B2. White noodles glow in blacklight by the way!
Make glow water with the vitamin B2 tablets. Then, allow the noodles to sit in the neon water for a couple of minutes. Read the instructions on the back of your noodle package to find out for how long, and what the temperature of your water should be.
After straining your water, the noodles are done! You can now use them in your cooking, or use them as a glowstache. Don't forget to give yourself a good haircut!
