If you like Star Wars and glow food, this edible and UV reactive lightsaber recipe is perfect for you! In this video I will explain step by step how I made this lightsaber, that will glow in the dark in blacklight (ultraviolet light).

Magical props from sci-fi or fantasy movies are fun to recreate. Especially when you can make them edible, and glow! This lightsaber is pretty much a lolly. You might need a few days to finish it!

There are only two ingredients in this recipe, as you can see in the video. The ingredient that makes the edible lightsaber glow is Tonic. The quinine in Tonic is UV reactive. While Tonic might be a very bitter drink, these lightsabers are not bitter at all due to the amount of sugar I used.

The tools you need for this lightsaber recipe are a pan, stove, spoon, heat resisting cooking gloves and a probe-thermometer.

You also need baking paper or a silicone baking mat. In the above GIF you can see the mixture after cooking, in normal light and blacklight (ultraviolet light).

Store the lightsaber in a cool place. You can roll it in baking paper to protect it.
